Double bassist, vocalist and ideologue of yass, co-founder of the band Miłość.

Tymon Tymański (born in 1968 in Gdańsk) is a bassist, vocalist, guitarist and composer, one of the most colorful figures of the Tricity music scene. He is the creator of the concept of yass, an alternative current of Polish jazz that emerged in the Tricity in the late 1980s. In 1988 he founded the band Miłość, the most important formation of this movement, in which he played double bass and sang.

The music of Tymański and his bands combined the energy of free jazz with the rebellious spirit of punk and inspirations from the avant-garde and rock. Miłość repeatedly won critics' polls for the best Polish band, and recordings with the American trumpeter Lester Bowie brought the group international recognition. In 1992 Tymański formed the group Kury, whose album P.O.L.O.V.I.R.U.S. won a Fryderyk award.

In the following years he carried out numerous projects, including the Tymański Yass Ensemble and Tymon & The Transistors, and as a composer of film music he won an award from the Polish Film Academy. He remains a key, pioneering figure for yass and for all of Polish independent music.
